On March 21,2026, Unit 1 of the Chongqing Huadian Tongnan Phase I 2×500 MW-class Gas-fired Power Project successfully completed its 168-hour full-load trial operation and is set to officially begin commercial operation. Featuring a 550 MW F-class gas turbine unit, the project represents another important milestone for POWERCHINA SEPCO1 Electric Power Construction Corporation Ltd. (SEPCO1) in the gas turbine sector and demonstrates the Company's comprehensive capability in supporting efficient and clean energy development. As a major participant in China's power construction industry, SEPCO1 has delivered more than 850 generating units with a total installed capacity exceeding 160GW. In recent years, while continuing to advance conventional energy projects, the Company has actively expanded its gas turbine business, achieving a cumulative installed gas turbine capacity of over 9GW. SEPCO1 has gradually developed integrated service capabilities covering multiple turbine platforms, various project types, and diverse regional markets. In terms of gas turbine project construction, SEPCO1 has continuously accumulated experience and refined its management systems. Its early execution of the Jinan Iron and Steel Group Gas Turbine Project marked the Company's initial exploration into the gas-fired power sector. Since then, the Company has participated in a series of representative projects, including the Huadian Xinjiang Kashgar Gas Power Project, the Beijing Gaojing Gas-Fired Cogeneration Project, the Huadian Shijiazhuang Natural Gas Cogeneration Project, and the Datang Haikou Natural Gas Power Project. Through these endeavors, SEPCO1 has steadily enhanced its capabilities in heavy-duty gas turbine construction, cogeneration project implementation, and complex project management. Beijing Gaojing Gas-fired Power Plant (Asia's first 9FB gas turbine unit, awarded the Beijing “Great Wall Cup”) Huadian Shijiazhuang 2×400 MW-class Natural Gas Cogeneration Project Datang Haikou 2×9F-class Natural Gas Power Project (Commissioned in 2023) In recent years, the Company's gas turbine business has further expanded into overseas markets and high-end turbine models. In 2023, the Kyaukpyu Gas Power Plant EPC Project in Myanmar, POWERCHINA's first overseas gas turbine project, successfully completed its 168-hour trial operation, marking significant progress in SEPCO1's international gas turbine project delivery. In the same year, the Company successfully signed the contract for the Almaty CHP-2 Gas Power Plant Project in Kazakhstan. As the first energy project signed and implemented following the China-Central Asia Summit, this project takes on the critical responsibility of providing electricity and heating to the residents of Almaty. It is a major livelihood project for pollution reduction in Kazakhstan and has been listed as a key focus project by the Office of the President of Kazakhstan. In 2024, the Huadian Zhangqiu 2×400 MW Gas-Fired Cogeneration Project and Phase II of the Shenzhen Energy Eastern Power Plant both achieved strong delivery results. Since 2025, gas turbine projects undertaken by SEPCO1 in Guoneng Zhaoqing, Datang Huizhou Boluo, and Huaneng Nanshan have successively achieved high-quality commercial operation, further consolidating the Company's market competitiveness in the gas turbine construction sector. Myanmar Kyaukpyu 135 MW Combined Cycle Gas Power Project (Commissioned in 2023) Kazakhstan CHP-2 Gas Power Plant Project Shenzhen Eastern Power Plant Phase II Datang Huizhou Boluo Gas Power Project The continuous improvement in project delivery capability is underpinned by systematic project management and technological innovation. SEPCO1 adheres to the principle of “planning first”. Focusing on the characteristics of gas turbine projects—such as high technical complexity, tight schedules, strict environmental requirements, and strong peak-shaving demands—the Company continuously optimizes resource allocation, schedule control, smart construction, and HSE (health, safety, and environment) management to promote efficient project execution. Meanwhile, tailored to different turbine models, regions, and geological conditions, the Company consistently drives technological breakthroughs and optimizes construction schemes, resulting in a series of replicable and scalable technological achievements. In terms of engineering quality, the Company has always adhered to full-process and full-chain quality control, continuously improving construction craftsmanship and refined management levels. By strengthening standardized construction, utilizing benchmark projects for guidance, and strictly controlling key procedures, the Company has achieved excellent construction quality and commissioning performance across multiple gas turbine projects, earning broad recognition from clients and the market. Looking ahead, SEPCO1 will continue to focus on clean energy development. Relying on technological innovation, high-quality project delivery, and lean management, the Company will continuously enhance its capabilities in gas turbine engineering and construction. SEPCO1 will actively serve the energy transition and green development both domestically and internationally, contributing its strength to building a cleaner, more efficient, and safer energy system. |
